We actively contribute towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Goal 3: Good Health & Well-Being: Promoting active transport via cycling means improvising health and wellbeing outcomes.
Goal 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth: Our co-op model promotes quality jobs and our emphasis on skills training and development ensures our employees and trainees have valuable skills for the future.
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities: Our work increases the supply of affordable bicycles for fossil-fuel-free transport, as well promoting circular economy processes like reuse, repair and recycling.
Goal 12: Responsible consumption & production. Our promotion of reuse over recycling or disposal means that we are pioneering the circular economy in Galway City. At the same time, our skills training grows the base for repair skills in the west of Ireland and our community DIY workshops help to foster a culture of repair and reuse.
Goal 13: Climate Action: Ireland’s Climate Action Plan states that increasing the number of active travel journeys is a key part of reducing emissions in the transport sector, and we promote travel by bicycle over cars. Our work also reduces emissions by promoting reuse in preference to carbon intensive metal recycling processes.

We are engaged in lobbying with Galway City Council, Department of Transport and National Transport Authority regarding transport policies.
The National Social Enterprise Policy aims to increase support for social enterprise in Ireland, AMR has participated in two iterations of the ARISE programme to spread awareness of the sector.
